Job cuts announced to staff with 700 set to go

Up to 700 jobs are set to be axed as a result of the merger between Ladbrokes and Coral, with the redundancies coming from head office staff who will now be housed under one roof.

The news was broken to staff at both bookmakers in an email on Friday lunchtime.

Between 600 and 700 jobs will go as part of the drive to save £65 million in cost synergies when the two firms merge. The maximum number of job losses would represent around 50 per cent of the current combined head office staff.
