James Ferguson plans first Breeders' Cup raid as Group 1 breakthrough sinks in
James Ferguson was still coming to terms with his new-found status as a Group 1-winning trainer on Sunday but, 24 hours after El Bodegon sparked Classic dreams when making all in the Criterium de Saint-Cloud, the second-season handler was already looking forward to the next major challenge in his rapidly advancing career.
Mise En Scene provided him with a first Group winner when landing the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood on her second start, and Ferguson is readying her for a tilt at the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf at Del Mar a week on Friday.
Qatar Racing's daughter of Siyouni ran a decent race to be fourth behind 1,000 Guineas favourite Inspiral when last seen in the Fillies' Mile and Ferguson is hoping a light campaign may pay dividends in California.
