Grade 1-winning jockey Jonathan Moore has opened up about how missing out on riding Flooring Porter and Vanillier to victory at the Cheltenham Festival almost drove him to quit the saddle, but for an intervention from Noel Meade.

Moore, who has been out of action since July, had been preparing for life away from racing after his old boss Gavin Cromwell expressed dissatisfaction with their arrangement earlier in the summer.

That prompted the 27-year-old to take a break from the game, and but for a phone call from Meade last week he insists he would have continued to chart a path away from the sport.
