It's wiotous fun with Wocket Woy and The Pwoducer at their live show in Coventwy

Wocket Woy and The Pwoducer's first live show at Coventwy was a woawing success, according to madcap jockeys Mattie Batchelor and Marc Goldstein, cweators of the internet sensations who now have more than 150,000 Facebook followers.

Batchelor said: "It went really well. We chose Coventry because it was central and we played to over 120 people at £30 a head, most of them avid followers of our adventures on the internet.

"The first half of the show was Marc and I telling the story of how it all started, which was purely by accident, mucking around on the gallops. I said to Marc I could ride one with no hands, he called my bluff, filmed it, put it on the internet, filmed some more and it snowballed."

He added: "It's all about having a laugh, and it portrays a different side of racing and shows that not all thoroughbreds are highly strung as we've filmed them doing all sorts of daft things.

"The second half was us with guests Charlie Poste, the jockey, Conrad Logan, the footballer, and Joff Wiliams, the showjumper, with lots of videos and games and so on."

Batchelor is not yet giving up the day job – or jobs, in his case – as he was speaking while heading towards Uttoxeter to renew his partnership with his last winner Norman The Red, and he also rides out for George Baker and does some work for Chanelle McCoy. However, he could not have been more pleased with the way the evening went.

He said: "We had lots of people coming up to us afterwards to tell us how much they had enjoyed the evening and we had a PR company there too. It was our first show so we can only improve, and we'll be sitting down in the next week or so to see how we can make it better and where we can go with it.

"Some people travelled a long way to see us, and if we can find the right venues and fill them, maybe one further north and one further south for starters, we'll keep going."

While Batchelor went to Uttoxeter, Goldstein was in action much closer to home with three rides at Fontwell, including Sixties Idol for Sheena West, on whose horses some of the pair's antics have been filmed.

Goldstein, who was especially pleased that superfan Zoe Vickers had been able to make the journey, said: "We were a bit rough round the edges at times, which is only to be expected for a first night, but we can improve that and it was a very good night.

"Our guests were brilliant. The videos are my department mainly and a bit Harry Hill-esque. Conrad Logan is a goalkeeper, but I found footage of him learning to ride and falling off when just trotting over poles. We had a bit of fun with that, making out it was us giving the lesson and shouting at him when he came off. We also got clips that maybe weren't Charlie Poste's finest moments and had fun with them too. Our guests have to be thick-skinned!

"We'll be doing it again and it will hopefully be a case of onwards and upwards."
