After finally breaking his Champion Chase hoodoo at the Cheltenham Festival, Willie Mullins is sizing up the last unconquered outpost in the jumping realm – namely the British trainers' title.

A remarkable four days last week at Prestbury Park during which he plundered ten races and a staggering £1,273,783 in prize-money has put the Closutton maestro firmly in contention for the championship, in which only Paul Nicholls, Nicky Henderson and Dan Skelton are above him in the table.

Nicholls leads the standings on £2,133,663 at the close of play on Wednesday, while there is little to separate Henderson and Skelton on £1,961,555 and £1,832,245 respectively.
