Joseph O’Brien has no fear of taking on Gold Cup favourite Galopin Des Champs as Fakir D’Oudairies bids to get his season off to the perfect start in Monday’s John Durkan Memorial Chase (2.10).

Punchestown’s pre-Christmas cracker was rescheduled after freezing temperatures across Ireland forced the cancellation of last Sunday’s card, but the meeting of two of the top-rated chasers around should see things hot up nicely ahead of a festive feast of racing.

Fakir D’Oudairies is a four-time Grade 1 winner, with three of those successes coming over the same 2m4f trip that the JP McManus-owned seven-year-old faces for his comeback on Monday.
