Chester Williams plans to take over the training licence of Grade 1-winning father Nick before the end of the calendar year, in a career switch he has been dreaming about since childhood.

Williams has balanced completing his first training module with his best season yet as a conditional rider, but the next phase is what excites him most.

Along with sister and top former jockey Lizzie Kelly, he already plays a crucial role in the training of horses with Nick and mother Jane, who are separate licence holders but operate "as a team".
