'It's like being locked in prison' - on-course bookie hails return of crowds

The news crowds are set to return to tracks in England as early as next week has been cheered by a prominent on-course bookmaker, who described the last few months as like being in prison.

Prime minister Boris Johnson on Monday announced outdoor sports venues would be allowed to start welcoming back spectators after the latest national lockdown in England ends next Wednesday.

Crowd numbers will be determined by infection rates across the country, but there is scope for up to 4,000 people to attend in areas least affected by Covid-19.
