'It's definitely his time to shine' - July Cup hope Golden Horde ready to star
Golden Horde was given a glowing endorsement by trainer Clive Cox on Monday as the Commonwealth Cup winner prepares to take on his elders for the first time in what is shaping into an intriguing battle of the generations in the Darley July Cup at Newmarket on Saturday.
The prestigious Group 1 has been a happy hunting ground for Cox with successes for Golden Horde's sire Lethal Force, the fastest-ever July Cup winner, in 2013 and Harry Angel in 2017.
The trainer's penchant for speed has also been well advertised by fellow Group 1-winning sprinters Profitable, Reckless Abandon and Gilt Edge Girl, and the in-form Lambourn trainer has little doubt Golden Horde is every bit as formidable as his previous stable stars.
