It's a marvellous match-up - I'll be happy if either wins

Racegoers at Kempton on Tuesday share their thoughts on how the track's big Boxing Day showdown between Thistlecrack and Cue Card will pan out

Howard Walkington, 55, from Bracknell
It's a marvellous match-up. You've got the Grade 1 toughness of Cue Card against the raw ability of Thistlecrack. There's the added factor of the £1 million bonus for Cue Card. I'll be happy if either win but I'm hoping for a great race and that they both come home safely.

Eric Downham, 66, from Hampton
It's a proven stayer against something up and coming. I'd probably back Cue Card as just edging it.

Ken Hazell, 47, from East London
Cue Card has been there and done it but I think it's very difficult. It's certainly not a betting race for me and I'll enjoy the spectacle.

David Cohen and Kay Chowles, 67 and 65, from Ruislip
It will depend how fast the track is because the fences come up quite quick here. You've got the novice against Cue Card, who has been there and done it. It will be wonderful to watch. I can't split the two of them but may have a little each-way bet on Valseur Lido.

Sophie Kimber, 34, Winchester
It's terribly exciting and something to look forward to. Thistlecrack is the pretender almost and the unknown quantity. I like him as he has such as exuberance about him. He does have a lot to prove against Cue Card and it would be lovely if he could go for the £1 million bonus again, especially for the owners, but Thistlecrack just edges it for me. Colin Tizzard has been fabulous and can do no wrong!
