In the wake of the World Hurdle hero's successful debut over fences, three Racing Post experts give their verdict on whether he looks like this season's Gold Cup winner

Not yet. He got into the bottom of one of the fences in the home straight and was a little too exuberant at the next, but on the whole you would be pleased with that first effort. He was already favourite for the Gold Cup and bookmakers cut him generally into 5-1 (from 6), although not all did, and it is a moot point as to whether he deserved to get any shorter. Bearing in mind his proven stablemate Cue Card is double the price and promising stablemate Native River 33-1, Thistlecrack is arguably not even the value within his own yard – let alone when measured against Vautour, Douvan and Coneygree.
