After recently overcoming coronavirus-enforced shutdowns, Irish point-to-point racing faces another challenge as uncertainly lingers over whether courses can obtain insurance to host meetings.

Issues in securing cover for equestrian activities in Ireland have escalated in recent months due to underwriters deciding against renewing policies, as well as a lack of other willing underwriters in Britain.

The move is understood to be a knock-on effect of Brexit, with British firms said to be unwilling to go through the red tape required to set up as insurers in Ireland for a niche market, in some cases.
