Ribblesdale winner in good form after break
Even Song, the Ribblesdale Stakes winner, heads Aidan O'Brien's bid for a fifth win in the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh today when the Ballydoyle trainer will be four-handed in the fillies' Classic.
Many fillies have made the journey from the Royal Ascot event to the Irish Oaks, but since Alydaress completed the double in 1989 only two others – Bolas in 1994 and Bracelet, trained by O'Brien, two years ago – have won both races.
Looking forward to Even Song's bid for Classic glory, the Ballydoyle trainer, who won three consecutive runnings of the race with Alexandrova (2006), Peeping Fawn (2007) and Moonstone (2008), said yesterday: "Even Song is in good form. She had a short break after Ascot and we've been happy with her since. She seems to handle most types of ground and we're looking forward to running her."
