Introducing the Racing Post's Cheltenham Festival dream team
The build-up to the next Cheltenham Festival normally begins the moment the last one ends, but this time around anticipation has been mounting for twice as long, because it has been two long years since festival spectators last shook the beams of Cheltenham's famous grandstands and bars.
Two years since we heard the spine-tingling roar that greets the start of the Supreme Novices', two years since we lost ourselves at the sight of the Gold Cup field swinging for home, two years since a hot favourite coming up the Cheltenham hill, ears pricked and full of running, met a wall of sound that could stop a train.
Two years. There's going to be some noise.
This is our sport's biggest week of the year, a feast of top-class racing and punting like no other, and it is the Racing Post's biggest week of the year too. Months of planning and preparation has gone into readying ourselves and we've spared no expense in ensuring our all-star team is poised to bring you world-beating coverage of the greatest show on turf.
Whether you're fortunate enough to be in Cheltenham, plan to watch the week from the comfort of your couch, or expect to follow the action from the office or on the go, we'll have everything you need to make the most of the week with brilliant coverage across our newspaper, website, app, social media channels and video.
In fact, I'm confident in saying that this is going to be our biggest and best Cheltenham Festival ever, with better coverage, more insight, greater expertise and hopefully more winners than ever before.
Among the highlights we have in store for you:
- An unrivalled team of reporters at the racecourse, including Lee Mottershead, Chris Cook and Richard Forristal, unearthing stories, following up whispers and relaying the action in glorious prose
- Joining this top team for the festival we have one of sport's most celebrated journalists, Paul Hayward, and leading ex-jockey Katie Walsh, who will provide their piercing insight on a daily basis
- Our renowned betting experts, including Tom Segal (Pricewise) and Paul Kealy, will serve up their best bets and analysis of every race
- In Tuesday's edition, Patrick Mullins, the ace amateur jockey who is as deadly with a pen as he is in the saddle, will set the scene for the week ahead, while ante-post betting maestro Gavin Lynch will share his final pointers for the big week
- Our multiple award-winning photographers, Edward Whitaker and Patrick McCann, will capture all the iconic moments with their cameras, bringing you closer to the action
- On our website, app and social media pages, we'll have up-to-the-second coverage of every story, so you won't miss a thing wherever you are
- New for this year, start every day with Good Morning Cheltenham, our daily video preview broadcast live from the town, starring David Jennings, Paul Kealy and special guests, aired on our YouTube channel, 8.30-9.30am
- Follow the action as it happens with the sport's best second-screen experience, Racing Post Live, hosted by Dave Orton and featuring live insight from the RP's betting experts, 1-5pm
- After the racing's over, tune into In The Know, with Tom Segal and other Racing Post experts, as they chew over the day's action and provide their best tips for the following day – broadcast live from 6.30-7.30pm
- And don't forget you can also watch every race live from Cheltenham via our app simply by logging in to your favourite bookmaker
