Wattel opts for lucrative foreign target over Arc for Niel winner Simca Mille
Prix Niel winner Simca Mille will not be supplemented for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Wednesday, with trainer Stephane Wattel and owner Jurgen Winter electing to make an audacious challenge for the Japan Cup on November 27 instead.
But both owner and trainer will be represented at Longchamp next Sunday as Prix de Diane third Rosacea will take her chance in the Prix de l'Opera.
With the connections of Prix Vermeille heroine Sweet Lady opting to head to Ascot for the Qipco Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes next month and Iresine – who landed the Prix Foy – barred from the Arc as a gelding, none of the three winners from Arc Trials day will attempt to double up.
