Vue is more than Fantastique for Chappet and Schwartz
Vue Fantastique once again proved her liking for Deauville when holding off the late charge of Listen In to land the Group 3 Prix de Psyche on Saturday under a fine ride from Olivier Peslier.
Last seen when failing to fire in the Prix de Diane, Vue Fantastique had finished second to Sobetsu here in the Prix Saint-Alary in May.
"It was very hot and the ground was quick at Chantilly, so she didn't run her race, but this backs up her good runs previously, notably in the Saint-Alary," said trainer Fabrice Chappet, whose first career Group win came in this race five years ago.
Vue Fantastique is owned by US-based Martin Schwartz and she could be heading Stateside for her next start.
"She's scheduled to go to New York for the Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes in September, but that could yet change," said Schwartz's representative, Michel Zerolo of Oceanic Bloodstock.
The most famous horse to carry Peter Savill's colours was 1995 Prix du Jockey Club hero Celtic Swing, who provided a link to his winner of Saturday's Listed Prix Six Perfections, the Mark Johnston-trained Izzy Bizu.
"Six Perfections was probably - along with Takeover Target - the best horse sired by Celtic Swing and so when I saw the name of the race I thought it would be nice to run," said Savill.
"Ioritz [Mendizabal] said seven furlongs is her limit and that he'd be tempted to come back to six."
The Prix du Cercle is frequently a benefit for visiting British-trained sprinters but the Christophe Ferland-trained Cox Bazar and Julien Auge had everything in trouble a long way out and beat the consistent Son Cesio in the style of a very smart horse.
"I knew I had a good horse on my hands when he won by a long way at La Teste," said Ferland. "I think he's a real 1,000 metre [five-furlong] horse and could be one for the Prix de l'Abbaye."
