There is unfinished business with Mogul. Subscribers to the Ballydoyle hype machine might have been upset when he disappointed in the Derby last season but he has enhanced his reputation no end since and on Sunday proved he can have a say in major middle-distance races next season.

The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe will be the one race Aidan O’Brien puts above all others after all of his runners were ruled out of Longchamp at the eleventh hour in October.

Mogul has always been talked up as potentially top class and while he went some way in justifying his reputation in the Grand Prix de Paris, Sunday's Hong Kong Vase success confirms that there are big races to be won with him next season.
