Stormy Antarctic has traversed more of the world than some seasoned travellers, and the Ed Walker-trained flagbearer has journeyed over to Germany once more in search of a first Group 1.

Last year the six-year-old was thwarted in this race by Benbatl, and Walker is hopeful he can go one better.

"He's in great form and this has been his main Group 1 target all season," the trainer said of his stable star, who has won more than £600,000 in prize-money.

"A lot of rain is forecast and I think the ground will be ideal for him. He was second last year behind a good horse. Obviously Danceteria is very progressive for David Menuisier, but I hope Stormy can win a big one. He certainly deserves to."

Danceteria delivered a career best last time when fourth to Enable in the Coral-Eclipse, outrunning his starting price of 50-1, and a repeat performance may be good enough for him to claim top honours here.

The four-year-old has been given time to acclimatise in Germany having left Menuisier's yard on Wednesday evening, and the trainer said on Saturday: "That was the first time he has travelled as far as this and he seems to have taken it really well."

Despite Danceteria possessing strong form due to his recent performance, Menuisier is not underestimating the opposition, and added: "He should have a really good chance, but you have to respect the local horses who have not had to do any travelling and know the track.

"On top of that you have to respect the British runners. Stormy Antarctic is a good yardstick and always runs his race. We've run once against Matterhorn before [in the Brigadier Gerard] and he beat us."

Matterhorn completes the trio of British challengers for the Group 1 prize having finished fifth in the Group 2 Summer Mile at Ascot last time.

It is a first run at the top level for the Mark Johnston-trained four-year-old, who only made his debut last October and has won eight times since.
