Sacred Life looks the real deal after six-length rout in Bryon

Stephane Wattel admitted that he could have "a really good one" on his hands after Sacred Life burst clear of the Hugo Palmer-trained Alba Power to land the feature race of the day by six lengths under Theo Bachelot.

The son of Siyouni is now unbeaten in three starts and will be aimed at the Group 1 Criterium International, won 12 months ago by Thunder Snow.

Despite an official GoingStick reading of 4.1 – very soft – the field came home in sub-12 second splits for each of the last three furlongs.

"It's always a pleasure to win a Group race but when they go on like that, you can’t help thinking about the future," said Wattel. "As long as he recovers well, we'll concentrate on the Group 1 coming up here. After 26 years as a trainer, I think he might be a really good horse."

Josephine Gordon was pleased with the effort of Alba Power, who was third in a sales race at Doncaster over six and a half furlongs last time out.

"He's a nice horse and we thought a lot of him," said Gordon. "He probably wants further and at least they go that bit slower here and he travelled.

"There was no catching the winner, who sprinted past me, but he stayed on well and he loved the ground as well."

Rosental completed back-to-back victories in the Listed Prix Dahlia for Luca Cumani, pulling two and a half lengths clear of the Kevin Ryan-trained Company Asset.

Winning rider Jamie Spencer said: "Her work has really stepped up in the last three weeks and Luca has been very happy with her. We were pretty confident coming over."
