The Jean-Claude Rouget steamroller shows no sign of stopping as Zelzal became the trainer’s fifth individual Group 1 winner of the season when dominating his rivals under a confident ride from Gregory Benoist in a race-record time.

Unraced at two owing to a minor injury, Zelzal has now won four from five, this performance hinting that Al Shaqab’s son of Sea The Stars could yet take high rank among the three-year-old colts, alongside the same owner’s Galileo Gold, The Gurkha and Irish Guineas winner Awtaad.
