Preakness could prove a formality for consistent Dreaming

Always Dreaming proved himself a live contender for the US Triple Crown after a dominant win in the first leg, the Kentucky Derby, last Saturday.

It was supposed to be an open running of the Derby, but the son of Bodemeister stamped his authority over the best of his generation to win by two and three-quarter lengths on a muddy Churchill Downs track.

The winner has been on a steep upward curve after landing his maiden in January and that progress continued as he took his second Grade 1 in as many months and secured a career-best RPR of 124.
