The Paul Cole-trained Duke Of Hazzard recorded a first Pattern success in the Listed Prix Isonomy at Deauville on Wednesday.

The two-year-old colt, third behind Arthur Kitt in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, finished only sixth in the Royal Lodge last month but returned to form under Christophe Soumillon to win by a length and a half from the Charlie Appleby-trained Art Du Val.

Soumillon asked his mount to close on the leaders entering the straight and the colt showed an impressive turn of foot to gain a second win in eight starts.

Cole said: "We're delighted. We haven't made any plans yet but the jockey did suggest the French Guineas would suit him."

In the earlier Group 3 Prix des Reservoirs, Cala Tarida showed a useful turn of foot to score by half a length from Montviette. The two-year-old was making it three wins from four starts under Gregory Benoist.

Trainer Frederic Rossi said: "We gave her quite a gentle preparation for the Criterium de Lyon, knowing the plan was to come on for this afterwards. She wasn't 100 per cent that day because I wanted her 100 per cent today. I've always liked her and known she was good.

"Physically she was quite big in comparison to the rest in the parade ring and I think she's more the model to be a three-year-old than a two-year-old. She has quality and if she has a good winter she can be aimed at the good races next year."
