O'Shea facing charge of failing to report strangles case
Former Godolphin heavyweights Henry Plumptre and John O'Shea will face charges when the inquiry into the non-reporting of a case of strangles resumes in Sydney.
O'Shea, who resigned as Godolphin's head trainer in Australia in April, has been issued with two charges, one for failing to report the confirmed case of strangles in Polemic as soon as possible and a second for giving false evidence to Racing NSW stewards during an interview and the opening session of the inquiry in June.
Plumptre, the ex-managing director of the Australian arm of the global operation, has been charged with his failure to report Polemic had strangles.
He resigned his position last week.
Polemic was found to be infected with strangles on or about August 4, 2016.
Veterinarian Dr Trevor Robson told the inquiry he contacted O'Shea on August 4 when he learned Polemic had strangles and O'Shea had said he did not want to notify stewards, something the trainer denies.
The inquiry resumes on Friday.
