No worries: supermare Winx kicks back with a soft-tissue massage
Racehorses in Britain may be feeling down in the dumps as snowy weather and then equine influenza have struck, but in Australia the world's joint-best racehorse is enjoying life without a care in the world, with a personal physio on speed dial.
Superstar mare Winx, who is due to take part in an exhibition gallop at Randwick on Saturday morning (Friday evening in Britain), prepared with a soft-tissue massage – which her trainer Chris Waller suggested she clearly enjoyed.
Waller told Racing.com: "Winx hasn't changed one bit, which is scary to think. We're constantly looking for the body clock to suggest she's not as effective as she has been, but she's not showing any signs whatsoever."
"Her attitude is great. She's moving well and her work has been great. She's going to Randwick to just have a stretch of her legs and a float trip and to get the butterflies out of her stomach before her run in the Apollo," he added.
The seven-year-old mare made history when winning a fourth Cox Plate in October and will bid to extend her unbeaten stretch to 30 when she reappears in the Apollo Stakes on February 16.
