Medicean fails to get rub of the green but we'll be back for more
Veteran Medicean Man was a first runner in Qatar for trainer Jeremy Gask when he lined up in the Breeders' Cup-sponsored Dukhan Sprint at Al Rayyan on Saturday, the final day of the Emir's Sword Festival. In the final part of his daily diary Gask reflects on his Doha experience . . .
Unfortunately the race didn't go to plan at all. I said beforehand that we wanted to be handy and that never happened because as soon as he broke from the stalls he got squeezed up by the horses in either side of him.
We thought stall two would be a good draw but it didn't prove to be. Some horses will fight to get through the gap but Medicean Man doesn't like it. The race was as good as over before it began.
