Mark Johnston has high hopes Addicted To You can land stayers' prize
British-based trainers have fared well on German ventures this season, most notably Saeed Bin Suroor, the man responsible for two Group 1 victories with Best Solution earlier this campaign.
Mark Johnston, Iain Jardine and Sir Mark Prescott will all be attempting to bring back more euros in the Listed Mannheim Steher-Cup over a mile and seven and a half furlongs on Saturday.
Johnston runs Addicted To You, and assistant trainer and son Charlie spies a good opportunity for their four-year-old gelding before tuning him up for a tilt at a domestic prize in the new year.
"Addicted To You has a good chance on official ratings but we've had a frustrating year with him," he said. "He was very impressive at Chelmsford and we targeted the Northumberland Plate, but we suffered a few setbacks, so he's consequently had a light campaign.
Jardine, also happy to send Tors on a European expedition in an open-looking race, said: "It's difficult to read the German form but it's a tight little track and he's won round Chester.
"It's also right-handed and he's won round Musselburgh, so the conditions of the race look suitable. It's competitive but we wouldn't be going if we didn't think he had a chance of winning."
Melinoe, last seen finishing down the field in the Cesarewitch behind Low Sun, is the other British runner, for the Sir Mark Prescott-Luke Morris axis.
