Maisons-Laffitte lifeline emerges after local authority agrees to €7.5m bid
French racing authorities have pledged to closely examine a €7.5 million offer made by the local authority in Maisons-Laffitte to buy the track with a view to restarting racing.
Situated 15 kilometres north-west of central Paris, Maisons-Laffitte closed its doors to the public towards the end of 2019 as part of cost-cutting measures enacted by France Galop, despite vociferous local opposition.
Famed for its 1m2f straight track, the majority of the course's fixtures have been divided between Chantilly and Deauville, while France Galop has invested €1.5m in improving facilities and attracting new business at the adjacent training centre.
