Listed breakthrough for Murphy as Happy Odyssey scores at Maisons-Laffitte
Amy Murphy may have burnished her reputation over hurdles last winter thanks to the exploits of stable star Kalashnikov, but with Happy Odyssey she now has a Listed winner on the Flat on her books.
However, whether she gets to further develop the career of Happy Odyssey, who has bounced out of his success in the Prix Saraca at Maisons-Laffitte, will potentially be down to how popular he proves at the Arqana Arc sale in Paris next Saturday.
Reflecting on Wednesday's success with her first runner in France, Murphy said: "She is pretty talented and Mickael [Barzalona] said she flicked her ears when she hit the front so I think she would have been even more impressive if she had had some company in the final furlong.
"She has horses rated 95 behind her on her previous start at Goodwood so we knew she had plenty of ability. We might have ridden her a bit too handily previously and this was the first time she had really been held up.
"She'll probably get put in the Arc sale next week but she'll also get an entry at Deauville later in the month so we'll have to see how it goes."
