Intellogent lays down Jockey Club marker as Glorious Journey fades late on

Trainer Fabrice Chappet believes Intellogent has genuine Prix du Jockey Club claims after the colt ran out a cosy winner of the only recognised trial to be run on Chantilly's Piste du Jockey Club under Pierre-Charles Boudot.
The Guiche is run over a furlong and a half shy of the full Qipco Prix du Jockey Club distance but Almanzor completed the double in 2016 and Chappet believes Intellogent – a first Group winner for the 2013 French Derby hero Intello – will handle a further step up in trip without difficulty.
"I don't think the extra 300 metres will bother him," said Chappet, who broke his Classic duck with Precieuse in last season's Poule d'Essai des Pouliches. "He's toughened up and handles every kind of going."
Intellogent finished third in a decent conditions race over a mile at Longchamp last time and his success here will give encouragement to connections of Mer Et Nuages and Wusool.
"William just said the ground is quick enough for him," said Appleby, who will not be represented in either of the Poules d'Essai at Longchamp on Sunday.
"He is still learning and is a bit of a playboy at the moment. He is a good looking horse and he travelled into it well but I think the more racing he gets, hopefully he can progress."
