Honest Menuisier trying his luck in Listed race at Saint-Cloud
You know what it's like. You're about to retire a 90+ rated five-year-old mare to the paddocks when you spot the perfect Listed race right at the end of the season at Saint-Cloud to try to add a bit of black type – and half of France has had the same idea.
David Menuisier thought he had found the perfect opportunity for Havre de Paix to enhance her page in the Prix Isola Bella on Tuesday before heading off to the breeding shed.
An amused Menuisier said: "She was fourth in a Listed race in France last year over nine furlongs, which was too far, but this is a mile so I'd say the trip is ideal and the ground is ideal. It's just the opposition that isn't ideal. It's extremely competitive."
