Head has the Morny on his mind as Tantheem shows her class
Freddy Head reminded waiting journalists that it is more than 20 years since he last won the Prix Morny, but whether that drought ends this year or not, he looks to have a smart filly on his hands in Tantheem, who ran away from her rivals to land the Group 3 Prix de Cabourg under Mickael Barzalona
An eyecatching second to the well-regarded High Dream Milena after blowing the start on debut, Tantheem made no mistake on her second start and looks booked for bigger things before the season is out, putting three and a half lengths between herself and the Richard Fahey-trained Darkanna.
"I was a little bit worried about coming back in trip and about the straight course but she proved today she is versatile," said Head. "I will talk to the owner. You always dream of the Morny after the Cabourg but we will see. I loved the way she finished her race."
Earlier Head won the debutants' race for fillies with Polydream, who also won in striking fashion.
"She is a nice filly as well and I don't think she is far off being as good as Tantheem."
