French pair fly to the head of rankings after Poulains confrontation
Jean-Claude Rouget: claimed the French 2,000 Guineas with BrametotCredit: Patrick McCann
Brametot and Le Brivido rank up with the best three-year-olds in Europe after pulling clear of the field in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains at Deauville yesterday.
The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Brametot came out on top in a photo finish, winning by a short-head from his Andre-Fabre-trained rival, with both horses earning RPRs of 118.
They both benefited from being held up off the very strong pace and their rivals were nicely strung out at the finish, with Rivet (111+) three lengths away in third and a further six-length break to Spotify (97) in fourth.

Considering the way the race panned out front-running Rivet probably did well to stick with the winner and runner-up for so long.
