Frankel filly Qazyna continues rise after first Listed success for Varian
The Roger Varian-trained Qazyna continued her rise up the ranks at Chantilly on Sunday, when holding persistent challenges Music Lover and Haggle to register a first Pattern success in the Prix Casimir Delamarre.
Olivier Peslier spent much of Saturday watching his great friend Frankie Dettori milking the applause at Ascot and tried a little of his own here, cupping his hand to his ear in the winner's enclosure before telling photographers in his best Italian English: "Okay everybody, you can take your photos now!"
Winning trainer Roger Varian clearly felt there was plenty of potential to Qazyna when pitching her into the Sandringham at Royal Ascot, and that faith has been repaid just two starts later.
"I’m delighted for the owner-breeder [Nurlan Bizakov] and it’s nice to get a stakes win for a daughter of Frankel with a strong page." said Varian.
"She's a big filly who's taken a bit of time to mature and it’s possible she'll stay in training. She probably is capable of competing at Group level next year."

Elsewhere it was a card dominated by Freddy Head and longtime ally George Strawbridge, who accounted for the Group 2 Prix du Conseil de Paris with Listen In and the Listed Prix du Ranelagh courtesy of Stunning Spirit.
Aurelien Lemaitre was the winning jockey on both occasions and Head was especially delighted with Listen In – a Sea The Stars half-sister to Royal Hunt Cup winner Zhui Feng – who picked up well off a very slow pace to defeat Time Shanakill.
"She was sick after her last race at Deauville, which explained her bad run there," said Head. "She deserved to win a Group race after going down narrowly in several good races for fillies and mares. I'll talk with Mr Strawbridge but I imagine that will be it for her racing career."
Godolphin's Lucie Manette also earned herself some black type when coming fast and late under Vincent Cheminaud to win the Listed Prix de Saint Cyr.
