Familiar faces make it home from home as Saudis put on a show

Much of the conversation among the visiting press in Saudi Arabia focused on the devastating outbreak of coronavirus and whether a number of top jockeys would be able to ride in the world's richest race.

Despite severe restrictions on travel, that worst-case scenario was avoided, primarily through royal intervention, but help was at hand had the likes of Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori not been able to attend.

Among the great and the good in Riyadh for the $20 million Saudi Cup were legendary jockeys Steve Cauthen, the youngest winner of the US Triple Crown, Chris McCarron, Mick Kinane and Ted Durcan.
