Drinks are on Channon and Mosse as Barbill strikes in Listed Prix Yacowlef

When it comes to juvenile races and sprints the locals long ago learned to respect those horses sent from across the English Channel and the market for the Listed Prix Yacowlef proved spot on as 2-1 favourite Barbill, one of four British-trained challengers, struck for Mick Channon and Gerald Mosse at Chantilly.

As with most of his rivals, Barbill was encountering by far the softest conditions of his career but he had the race won at the furlong marker, with only the Archie Watson-trained Rockin Roy giving serious chase.

"He had already shown his ability before today and he showed aptitude for the soft ground," said Mosse. "He was going very easily and, even on this ground, I didn't want to leave it to the end so I let him stride on at halfway.
