Djakadam adds intrigue to vintage edition of Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris
Scott Burton's whistlestop tour of racing in France this week
One of the most compelling spectacles in European jump racing, Sunday's Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris, is the highlight of the season at Auteuil and this year looks set to draw a genuinely classy line-up.
The entries are dominated by the two yards of Guillaume Macaire and Francois Nicolle, while Willie Mullins has long had the 'Grand Steep' on his bucket list of big races to win and with Djakadam is giving it his best shot yet.
The two-day meeting also boasts the Grande Course de Haies (the Champion Hurdle, run on Sunday) and the Prix Alain du Breil (Saturday), both of which were previously staged in June and which Mullins and Nicky Henderson will aim to have a big say in.
