Can Passion And Glory make it a four in a row for Godolphin at Baden-Baden?
Sunday: 2.15 Baden-Baden
149th Wettstar Grosser Preis von Baden (Group 1) | 1m4f | 3yo+
Passion And Glory has been tasked with continuing Godolphin's recent domination of the Group 1 Wettstar Grosser Preis von Baden following the success of Barney Roy, Ghaiyyath and Best Solution in the previous three years.
Trained by Saeed bin Suroor, who saddled Best Solution in 2018, Passion And Glory made a successful transition from handicaps to Group company when making all the running to land the Group 3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood on his last start and now bids to bridge the gap to the highest level over 1m4f at Baden-Baden.
Bin Suroor said: "Passion And Glory has been in excellent form since coming back to the UK this season and deserves to take his chance at this level.
"His best performances have been with give in the ground and it was soft at Baden-Baden earlier in the week, although it looks as though it will dry out for Sunday. He heads out there in good form and we are looking forward to seeing how he gets on."
Oisin Murphy, unbeaten on the three times he has partnered the son of Cape Cross, again takes the ride and will also be in action on the undercard when partnering San Isidro in the Group 2 Kronimus Oettingen Rennen.
The rider said: "It looks quite a deep race but I like Passion And Glory as a type. He's improving and hopefully the ground has a little bit of juice in it.
"Nice ground is important to him but he's straightforward to ride and he should improve for the step up in trip in my opinion."
Among Passion And Glory's rivals are German Derby winner Sisfahan, trained by Henk Grewe, and the Marcel Weiss-trained Torquator Tasso, bidding to go one better than when second to British raider Alpinista in a Group 1 at Hoppegarten last month.
