Almond Eye, third best racemare in the world last year behind Enable and Winx, returns in the Group 1 Victoria Mile at Tokyo on Sunday.
Christophe Lemaire's mount, a best-priced 4-7 chance for the fillies' and mares' contest, had been favourite to defend her Dubai Turf crown at Meydan in March until the meeting was cancelled because of the coronavirus.
When last seen in December, the five-year-old finished out of the first three for the first time in her nine-race career, when trailing home ninth in the Arima Kinen.
Trainer Sakae Kunieda told bloodhorse.com: "After her unfortunate result last year in the Arima Kinen, she still travelled to Dubai, but because of the cancellation there, she returned to Japan and saw out the quarantine before going to Northern Farm Tenei."
Of the daughter of Lord Kanaloa's task on Sunday, he added: "Mentally she's in the right place. Generally you have to say the Tokyo mile suits her."
