Independent Irish bookmakers applying to reopen when racing resumes on June 8

Betting shops in Ireland could reopen as soon as June 8 under plans being advanced by the Irish Bookmakers Association.
The IBA, which represents around 760 independent betting shops, is set to make an application to the government to reopen for business on the same day as Irish racing returns to action.
June 8 is the date of phase two in the Irish government's roadmap for reopening society and business in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
