If The Cap Fits and last season’s Stayers' Hurdle winner Paisley Park are all set for a pre-Christmas Ascot showdown next month after it was confirmed the pair are on course to lock horns in the Grade 1 Long Walk Hurdle.

Jumps fans are in for another mouthwatering clash with Harry Fry, trainer of If The Cap Fits, throwing down the gauntlet following the seven-year-old's second success in the Coral Hurdle at Ascot on Saturday and aiming his charge at the Grade 1 contest on December 21.

Paisley Park is set to make his seasonal return in the Grade 2 Ladbrokes Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury on Friday and trainer Emma Lavelle has also earmarked a repeat crack at the Ascot race as the next part of his build-up to again trying to land the Stayers’ Hurdle at the festival.
