Classic-winning trainer and former successful jockey Paul D'Arcy has revealed he is to head into retirement later this week and will saddle his final runner at Kempton on Wednesday.

The Newmarket-based handler enjoyed his finest hour in the training ranks when preparing Indian Haven to land the Irish 2,000 Guineas under John Egan in 2003, and he is adamant the colt would have won the English equivalent but for being "flattened" when meeting trouble in running.

Fittingly, almost 18 years later, D'Arcy's last runner, Knight Of Kings, is also to be partnered by Egan in the opening 7f maiden at Kempton's twilight meeting.
