'I think he'll run a big one' - confident Casey fancies Max Flamingo to go close

Francis Casey says Max Flamingo is a "different animal" this season compared to last as the trainer bids for the biggest win of his career in the JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National (3.35) at Limerick on Sunday.

Casey, whose father Peter trained the high-class Flemenstar, said the Munster National has been on his radar for Max Flamingo ever since he finished a close-up seventh behind Lord Lariat in the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse last Easter.

The seven-year-old warmed up for the €90,000 event with a satisfactory prep in a Grade 3 novice chase at Tipperary this month, a performance Casey was thrilled with.
