'I hope we don't get forgotten' - plea to let more syndicate members go racing

Leading syndicate manager Sam Hoskins has called for racecourses to use discretion in allowing as many owners on track as possible within UK government guidelines when racecourses reopen their gates to limited attendance in England on May 17.

Under the second phase of the government's roadmap out of lockdown, up to six owners per horse are currently allowed to attend, a number which Hoskins described as "dire" for syndicates were it to be extended.

Instead Hoskins urged that, when the numbers on course rise to the thousands rather than mere hundreds in the next step, consideration is given to scaling up allocations for horses in shared ownership, either by directly raising the numbers of badges available or giving priority to syndicates to buy extra.
