HQ hotties: five names to remember as turf season cranks up a gear at Newmarket

Ghaiyyath: Ganay bound after two wins at Longchamp

Ghaiyyath Charlie Appleby
The son of Dubawi appeared in this feature last year, but readers had to be patient as he did not run until September due to injury. He proved worth the wait, though, as he trounced his opposition in a Group 3 at Longchamp on his return. The now four-year-old showed that was no fluke when landing a Group 2 in similarly devastating fashion back at the Paris track this month, and now heads to the Ganay. He could not be in better hands as he is ridden out by Frankel's work-rider Shane Featherstonhaugh.

Electrical Storm Saeed Bin Suroor
Bin Suroor's three-year-olds do not look as if they will carry all before them this season, but he has a nice bunch of juveniles tucked away at Stanley House stables on Bury Road. Their first two-year-old runner of the season featured initially in this Thursday's Montaz Restaurant British EBF Novice Stakes at Newmarket under the name Desert Mystery, but has undergone a late change after consultation with the BHA. The youngster could not be better bred as he's a half-brother to Godolphin's Group 1 winner Ribchester.

Senza Limiti William Haggas
He was supposed to make his seasonal return at Thirsk last weekend but was pulled out on the morning of the race due to fast ground. The son of Lope De Vega was among a small band of workers that Haggas took to Chelmsford for a workout a few weeks ago, and he could make up into a nice type over a mile-plus and supplement his debut win at Salisbury last year.
