Honeysuckle's success extra sweet for those who added her to their teams
There was no shortage of top-class action over the weekend, headlined by the Dublin Racing Festival, and Honeysuckle's Irish Champion Hurdle victory was good news for plenty of those playing the Tote Ten To Follow competition.
Henry de Bromhead's star mare extended her unbeaten record to seven with victory at Leopardstown and in doing so became the highest scoring horse in the game.
With the Irish Champion Hurdle a bonus race, Honeysuckle accrued 50 points plus 2.5 Tote Return points taking her total to 80.3 points.
Her win was also one of three on the weekend for new leader KevinG Stable 1, taking him up to top spot and providing him with a 30-plus point lead on his nearest pursuer.
Having runners who hail from De Bromhead's stable is looking like a shrewd strategy, with Notebook's victory in the Irish Arkle moving him to 60.3 points, adding a tidy 28.3 points with a second straight Grade 1 victory over fences.
Irish Gold Cup winner Delta Work has now amassed 62.1 points and is the highest scoring horse not to have won a bonus race so far.
Those who invested in the Faugheen fairytale are also in clover, with the 12-year-old's latest magnificent effort netting 28.6 points for a running total of 57.5.
Black Tears, Chacun Pour Soi and Eclair De Beaufeu were other Ten To Follow winners at Leopardstown over the weekend. At Sandown, Itchy Feet's Grade 1 success in the Scilly Isles took him to 46.5 points overall.
Eight winners through January proved enough for Nathan Doc Stable, as he bagged the £10,000 monthly prize with a total of 173 points.
