'It would be amazing' - Doyle and old ally Trueshan out to make history at Ascot

Hollie Doyle and Trueshan will bid for a slice of Champions Day history on Saturday when the popular stayer bids to become the first horse to win the same race at this fixture in three consecutive years.

Trainer Alan King reported the Group 2 Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup (1.25) remains the plan for Trueshan as long as there is sufficient cut in the ground and with rain forecast to sweep in on Thursday – although the amount remains uncertain – Doyle is keen to be reunited with one of the horses that cemented her in the public mind.

King said: "He'll run provided it rains. I'd like a bit more and I think we might get it. He's very well, he's due to do his final bit of work tomorrow and I'm happy with him but I would like some more rain."
