FOBT stakes are set to be reduced to £2

William Hill and Paddy Power are to join Ladbrokes in voluntarily cutting FOBT stakes in Northern Ireland to £2 from April.

FOBTs operate in a legal grey area in Northern Ireland as The Gambling Act 2005 does not apply there.

Gambling is instead regulated under the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Northern Ireland) Order 1985, and the government's decision to reduce the maximum stake on FOBTs to £2 from £100, which was last week brought forward to April from October 2019, does not apply.
