Skelton: Britain should stage its own Galway festival to boost summer jumping

Dan Skelton, who last month set a new record for the earliest century of winners in Britain over jumps, has called for an upgrade to the summer jumping programme, including more opportunities for horses to earn black type in the first half of the season.

The trainer also proposed that Britain stage a summer festival similar to the Galway meeting in Ireland.

Since taking out a licence in 2013, Skelton has enjoyed considerable success through the summer season, which has become an increasingly important part of his burgeoning business.
