Hesketh family linked to Jockey Club in bid to return racing to Towcester

A trust connected to the family of Lord Hesketh is understood to be the front–runner in the bidding for Towcester and has contacted the Jockey Club about taking over the running of the track.

Towcester, where Lord Hesketh was chairman and which staged horse and greyhound racing, including the Stars Sports Greyhound Derby, went into administration in August after experiencing what were described as significant financial difficulties.

Company trade creditors were owed nearly £1.2 million, with the Greyhound Board of Great Britain owed £162,636.20.
