Neil King has urged the public to visit his Wiltshire yard on Sunday when they will get a chance to see potentially the best horse he has trained.

King, who is based near Barbury Castle, made his mark with the popular Grade 2 winner Lil Rockerfeller, but in unbeaten Aintree bumper winner he feels he has a new star to shout about.

He will show off the £170,000 purchase at his annual open day on Sunday and has encouraged anyone interested to pop along.

He said: "Gates open at 10.30am and we start parading all of the horses from 11am, which we will then follow with a tractor and trailer ride of the gallops, and refreshments with drinks and a barbecue.

"This is not part of National Racehorse Week, it's something I've done since I trained in Newmarket.

"I started doing it to give my existing owners a day out and something to look forward toward at the start of the autumn, but naturally we're trying to create business from it and, thirdly, it's just a chance for people interested in what we do to come and have a look."

King has a string of 30 for the core jumps season, but it's not hard to detect how highly he regards Lookaway, an Ask gelding who won a Newbury bumper before impressing in the Grade 2 at Aintree's Grand National meeting.

The trainer added: "He looks fabulous, a million dollars. He's mature, and has grown up in himself. He'll probably start off over two or two and a half miles, but he'll get three as he's a point-to-point winner by Ask, although he does have plenty of speed.

"We'll get him ready, but the plan would be a nice maiden hurdle somewhere."

Asked if he saw Lookaway as a potential Grade 1 horse, King said: "Without doubt. On all he did last year, he's probably the best I've had my hands on. Lil Rockerfeller was Flat-bred, but I feel this guy is the best National Hunt-bred horse I've ever had."

King is no one-horse operation, however. " is also very nice and won his first start over hurdles on the bridle, while was a star and won what is known as the Gerry Feilden last year," he said.

" is a dual bumper winner returning from injury and was a Listed winner last season who finished fourth in the Grade 2 mares' bumper at Aintree.

", whose claim to fame is splitting Envoi Allen and Appreciate It in a point-to-point in his youth, could be a Welsh National type."

King's address is Upper Herdswick Farm, Burderop, Wroughton, Wiltshire, SN4 0QH and he would welcome anyone keen on attending to register their interest via email at neil@neil-king.co.uk.
